Born to Reign: Embracing Our Divine Heritage
As believers in Christ, we are called to a remarkable identity and purpose: to reign with Him. This divine heritage is rooted in the foundational truth that we are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). Being born again through faith in Jesus Christ ushers us into a new realm of authority and responsibility.
Scripture affirms that we are heirs with Christ. Romans 8:17 declares, "Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." This inheritance is not merely a future promise but a present reality. We are endowed with spiritual authority to influence the world around us, reflecting God's kingdom on earth.
Our reign is marked by servanthood and humility, mirroring the example set by Jesus. In Mark 10:45, Jesus states, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." True reign in the Christian context involves serving others, advancing justice, and demonstrating God's love.
Furthermore, Revelation 5:10 proclaims, "You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth." This verse highlights our dual role as both kings and priests. As kings, we exercise authority and stewardship over God's creation. As priests, we intercede, worship, and draw others into a deeper relationship with God.
Living out this calling requires us to remain connected to the source of our power—Jesus Christ. John 15:5 reminds us, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." Our ability to reign effectively is directly linked to our relationship with Him.
In conclusion, being born to reign is a profound privilege and responsibility. It calls us to embody Christ’s love and justice, to serve with humility, and to lead others towards His kingdom. Let us embrace this divine heritage, knowing that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to make a transformative impact in the world. by A.Folarin
